TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE...THAT IS THE QUETZAL

CLOUD FOREST NATURE WALK AND QUETZAL - A must for birdwatchers. Departing at 7 a.m., the search for the illusive "Quetzel" begins with a scenic 45-minute drive to the summit of Azahar Peak located near La Paz de San Ramon. Prior to beginning your nature walk, you will be served a light breakfast at a private family farm where the Quetzal nests. Once on the trail, you may observe footprints of wild boars and cats that inhabit this higher elevation area -- along with a variety of higher altitude birds (1400 meters), including the rare Quetzal who nests in this area between February and June each year.
